Testimony meeting

Today at church I had my 3 kids, my sister's 2 kids, and Chris was home sleeping after a night shift. We were sitting on 2 short rows, Jeff and Alex in the front, Hannah and I right behind, and Jack and Madison going back and forth. It was testimony meeting, and after passing the sacrament, Jeff started in on his list of "too bored to sit still" excuses... I need a drink/tissue/bathroom break etc. Then the second string: My head aches, my tummy hurts, I don't feel good, I think I'm having a seizure. After 2 trips out I'm not falling for it. He's bored, and doesn't like being out of routine (cousins). I told him to lay his head down on his coat.

Halfway through the meeting, his classmate, Dylan, stood and bore his testimony. Jeff snapped to attention, riveted to Dylan's face and listened attentively. When Dylan was done, he jumped up and said "I'm sorry mom, but my testimony is just coming out of me." What do you say to that?? "Go ahead, but be reverent."

He "walked quickly" to the stand and bore his testimony. Well, he said "I'd like to prepare my testimony", and he was thankful for his mom and dad, parents, brother, sister and cousins. Then he "walked quickly" back to his seat.

I'm thankful for his testimony.

Stuck in my head

You know how you get a song stuck in your head? No matter what you do, it just won't go away? And at odd quiet moments bits and pieces just pop out of your mouth? NO? Just me then.... well, this is day 3 of this song stuck in my head, and I'm hoping that one of two things happens: 1) by sharing the joy with the world, the song will leave my brain, or 2) enough of you will also have it stuck in your heads that I won't have to sing a solo. LOL

Birthday Wrap-Up

It's the end of birthday week. LOL. I'm going to add some photos of Hannah's birthday parties, complete with Spaghetti and Meatballs- cupcakes. They looked really real. Not at all cakey. We expected to smell garlic. While the effect was cool, we decided that it was just wrong to make chocolate and icing look like an entree'. (Wrong with a capital "R", she said.) So we probably won't do the whole "fake food" thing again, and will go back to pretty princess cakes. haha. Oh yeah.. we did a 70's theme party, and tried string art plaques for our craft/ take home gift. It was kinda harder than I thought. They looked great in the end, and I think they had fun. I'm glad we had a fun week, and glad that birthday week is over now. I'm a little tired.

Happy Birthday (really) Hannah

For Hannah's birthday, I thought I should post something just for her. These are hair-do pics that I took on my cell-phone. We spend a lot of time together doing hair. The hair is cute, but the time spent together is one of the highlights of my day. I really enjoy our 5-15 minute daily routine. I am not great at taking pictures, and they don't do her hair justice, but we'll work on that later. For now: This show's for Hannah, Happy Birthday! Love, Mom.

On the first day of your Birthday....

Sometimes we have to be really flexible with birthdays. Sometimes it's a bit ridiculous. Hannah will be 9 on Tuesday. But this is Girl Scout week, and there are activities that night. So we are having her party on Wednesday. Except Chris has to work that night, so the family party was tonight. To clarify: a party today, a day off, her real birthday, and then her party with her friends. Lol. How does this get so out of control?? Oh well. At least we get cupcakes. Lots and lots of cupcakes. And we have a fun cookbook called "Hello Cupcake" that I highly recommend. Here were today's "popcorn" cupcakes. These are mini cupcakes decorated with cut up marshmallows and stacked in a popcorn box to look like actual popcorn! Cute and fun start to "Birthday week"!

sick days go on

Jeff caught my cold. Well, no fever, so it may be someone else's cold. Still, not alot accomplished but rest, fluids and coughing this weekend. Hannah got to run away and play with Grammy, and Chris was on nights. Alex had one of those sleepovers that never end... just a little longer- pleeeease??? So Jeff watched TV, I read and we went through a couple of huge boxes of Kleenex, some Mentholatum, 2 humidifier tanks and lots of OJ and chicken soup. We also watched Chicken Little twice, Daddy Daycare (again), Mulan, Kung Fu Panda, and an old VHS of Little Bear. Also Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (Alex's pick) and Tommy Boy (edited for TV, but not enough for mom) which was Chris and Jeffery's pick. I hope we are ready to face the world Monday morning. Luckily it's a short week! WooHoo for spring break!
